Thought provoking session number two -Teched Au 2007

So the second session today that really made me think. Not sure that it was the thought process Greg Lowe intended to provoke but I can't really control that.

Some of the things Greg had to say centred around motivations or leading a group. This afternoon I have had a good hard think and I've spoken with other Group Leads and of course I need to let it simmer.

I am considering handing off organistional responsibility of my user group to someone else. So why does this occur to me as a course of action?

  • MY User Group!
  • There is no management team and if I choose to not do anything that is pretty much it. I run sessions because I wanted them, I run sessions that I think are interesting and this leads to unpredictable attendance
  • and of course If you don't enjoy what you are doing then don't do it

and I have feel aspects of all these things so not sure where this will lead, and of course handing of to a new Leader who will at least have one strong supporter would be ideal.

So not quite nurturing a group but let's see if anyone wants to take on the role because a community group can't be "David's Group". It needs to be bigger than that and for 34 months it has been David's SBS / Windows Infrastructure Group.

***Heavily edited because I got bagged for the free flowing ramble ***
