My wife sent me a Photo out of her email today, in our family we have not really found a tree we are happy with from year to year and while I'm pretty sure this one is not it, there is some interest in it's coolness factor.
I would need all year to collect that many Grolsch empties too
I often see single day Events is the SMB space as a little Lite on for useful content.
I'm Happy to Report that this time I have gotten value more than just supporting the community (which I think is VERY Important).
So far the sessions have been thought provoking & aimed well for the audience
I'm Going to try to summarise at the end of the day. Can't help wonder what might have been from the full SMB Focus event
Thus far I am fairly impressed, which is hard to do
So I was surfing around the net and found this, now just looking at me says I luurve the fried chicken but that is not what made me think long and hard about where we have gotten to.
You need to SMS a number to get a coupon back, now 0415coupon has your mobile number and your permission to send you stuff via SMS. So KFC gets a new customer for a twister and maybe 0415coupon gets access to opted in Mobile numbers I don't know.
Now look at the fine print you agree that you don't have an unsubscribe service on your number, so what might cause this? I might own 04pornmeup and for $5.55 a message min 2 Messages / Day you get well stuff, so when 0415coupon sends the coupon for the twister they get subscribed to my desperate to meet loose women in my suburb service and get hooked up in my little web. Does sound like this has happened before?
Has the world really come to this?
This guy says he is only afraid of three things Electricity, Heights and Women

Then after work he goes home to his wife

I don't think Centro is "just the essentials". I think it's MORE than the essentials. I think it's at least a two week vacation worth of servers
And I agreed that the name could be better and of course there has been some two and throw from others in the community about the naming.
Vlad Mazek has written thusly:
Earlier this week Microsoft released Microsoft Essential Business Server and the name itself has caused a little discomfort among the people that don’t understand the midmarket customers and the dynamics beyond the box. So, as a public service, let me explain to you what its like working with midmarket customers in hopes that you don’t apply the flawed SBSer strategy and fail miserably with this new product suite.
Now I can be accused of being a bit of a Vlad fan boy at times and in full disclosure we use Shockey Monkey (which is revolutionising the things we do), Exchange Defender (SPAM AWAY dudes too good for words in how little I see now) and of course my company web is hosted there too. I don't always completely agree with the Gospel according to Vlad either, and in some areas, this is one of them.
Actually I completely agree with Vlad about the opportunity and how the sales cycle works and even the folk who work there and REALLY about the
Midmarket clients are very unlike the smallbiz clients in that they have already adopted technology - just very, very poorly. You might be dealing with dozens of servers, multiple domains, multiple offices and tons and tons of little LOBS all setup in their own peculiar way.
Boy do I agree with that after the last few engagements I have had in the 200 ish user sites which have grown up over time.
But I DO NOT LIKE THE NAME BECAUSE....
Because I talk to LOTS of people about directions an when we talk System Center Essentials 2007 folk ask why they wouldn't go with Operations Manager 2007, of course the answer is that SCE 2007 has features from both SCOM 2007 and SCCM 2007 so it is more than cut down SCOM 2007. Now when we look at what you don't get, compared to buying both SCOM 2007 and SCCM 2007. And yes these are business trade offs that the article cover very well in my opinion.
The people I talk with who have 100 or more workstations want:
on top of what System Center Essentials 2007 brings to the Party, now because Windows Essential Business Server includes System Center Essentials 2007 this is not the essentials for this market.
I have had a conversation or two about what Windows Essential Business Server would mean in terms of a direction for moving to Windows Server 2008 for some of my Mid Market clients and the name Essentials means missing things that are important to me, in their thinking. Of course upgrading the included SCE 2007 and building a Management Infrastructure will give them all they need but the Integration Console Pieces will unravel I assume.
So for me Windows Essential Business Server DOES deliver and I am optimistic about the product, but essentials to one customer means cut down or crippled to another.
Perhaps Windows Mid Market Server might have been better, that way I would have:
Windows Essential Business Server will say "stuff not included" to many.
Centro = Windows Essential Business Server

I really like this graphic it shows the High Level view of the problem Centro Windows Essential Business Server is designed to solve and I see great potential. I am really looking forward to integrating this solution into our offering. I've been looking at this product for a while now, and having recently completed projects for some customers in the 200 seat point I understand better why this Simplified Integration is going to be a really great fit.
Windows Essential Business Server is an integrated server infrastructure solution designed for the unique needs of mid-sized organizations, combining the technologies of Windows Server 2008, Exchange Server 2007, Forefront Security for Exchange, System Center Essentials, the next version of ISA Server and SQL Server 2008 into an “all-in-one” solution. It will include a Standard and Premium Edition. Windows Essential Business Server will provide a single Client Access License for all included products and offers new technologies which simplify license management. Within the administration console, IT professionals can easily ascertain how many licenses they have, who the licenses are assigned to and - when an employee leaves the company - easily re-assign licenses.
So we are a step closer to having a product which so far seems everything that SBS 200x has been for the Small of the SMB market.
