Things that suck (

This can’t be fun for Border Express and it would not be fun for our clients either. Makes me think twice about selling third party services to clients because of the trust loop and possible risks. This isn’t a Seek is bad thing it is a we are responsible thing. Sorry if it just sounds like more anti-service provider talk. I am aware we could be hacked in a similar way so we need to look more deeply at our Patching and Security processes and stay up to date as always. The register had a link to a...
OK just looked on Connect and I can’t find a way to get on this Beta so it would seem to be for TAP customers only which is what they said in MCPMag Microsoft will release the second service pack for Vista "to a small group of Technology Adoption Program customers" today. SP2 for Vista is being made available to selected testers for beta evaluation on Wednesday, according to Microsoft's Mike Nash, corporate vice president, Windows Product Management, in a statement released last week...
Last year at TechED Australia on the Gold Coast - IBM was handing out Lotus swag across the road from the convention centre, back then I thought it was tacky and was glad that I chose my partners better. Well just over a year later Microsoft has done the same cheap stunt on VMware and I must say for me it has back fired. Microsoft has put up with the I'm a PC and I'm a Mac campaign with the grown up attitude I expected from them. So what has changed? If every single competing vendor to Microsoft...
Here we go I was at the SMBIT Professionals Sydney Group last night and had a real holy crap moment. Lets go on that Journey for a little bit. Wayne Small had just finished a demo of SBS 2008 including the reporting and showed what was in a basic report and an advanced report, I thought it was received well. That was until the session after the break when Spiceworks 3.0 Beta was demo’d (not by Wayne and on a Documentation topic). OK that is a pretty interface and pretty comprehensive too, well there...
I blogged a long time ago about what I thought "Could" be done to make the SCE removal palatable . Gwen Zierdt left a comment saying "Good analysis on pricing. Stay tuned for some potential licensing promos later this year. " and of course I am waiting patiently. Now I wonder if I even care. Here is what folk said to me Last Tuesday night after the Sydney IT Pro Group "I'm glad SCE 2007 is out! I've got Kaseya Licences to pay for" and this might well be the thing...
Now that it has been said in public I can finally say SCE 2007 in SBS 2008 is GONE and yes I am Pissed about it. I like many, feel as though we have been lied to. I have known this for a little while but due to NDA have had to keep choking down the bile, but now I wonder if the SCE Team can step up with SBS Sized Pricing so that we can do what we wanted to do and build a managed services offering that manages a Microsoft product with Microsoft tools. My Ideas about what might help can be found here...
I own a small company that does Infrastructure Consulting, we sell time and expertise to various customers. When we are in long term engagements we do not quote product for any reason, this would be a huge conflict of interest, particularly when we often define the requirement and evaluate responses. We are trying to grow our Corporate / Small Government deployment and support business, which is a much slower area of growth for us because it is really quite hard not to pull back from developing this...
Earlier today I wrote .... So today I feel like a bit of a Partner Group Fan-boy but I am hoping to eradicate any negativity this year and this really has helped with the positivity today. So how am I going to eradicate negativity?? With one of these Bracelets!! OK more explanation required. I was told by someone who's opinion I respect that I can always be relied on to be negative. Bloody Hell what the ...... So I filed that away as an unthinking comment and to not get too negative about it...
So I was surfing around the net and found this, now just looking at me says I luurve the fried chicken but that is not what made me think long and hard about where we have gotten to. You need to SMS a number to get a coupon back, now 0415coupon has your mobile number and your permission to send you stuff via SMS. So KFC gets a new customer for a twister and maybe 0415coupon gets access to opted in Mobile numbers I don't know. Now look at the fine print you agree that you don't have an unsubscribe...
As you know I have been keen to drum up some attendance to SMB Focus, because I was keen to see it succeed AND because I believe in a strong SBS Community in AUstralia. Wayne has been talking about this event for the many years I have known him and I guess he is just shattered to have to Postpone. May I just ask that if the Special Edition User Group gets legs that you all support it and Wayne, as in my opinion he deserves it. SMBFocus 2007 Conference Event - Postponed Wednesday 12th September 2007...
This could be a comment on Dave's blog but I would not want to put this much comment spam out there, Dave I run the Canberra Windows User Group really an IT Pro Infrastructure Group and well let me call you to provide me with exactly that. Solutions YOU have. I Already Know the Problems! Where's the Solutions!? I got an email later today from Franky , telling me that the Microsoft Developer Show was back on TPN , and that their re-entry show was titled, User Groups R Us! . Now lately I've...
Users of modchipped gaming consoles could face fines of thousands of dollars when new copyright protection laws are introduced this year by the Federal Government. So does this mean that people who bought completely legal modchips will now be breaking the law? Will we see a great big XBOX and Playstation buy back scheme? I can see it now police stations full to the roof with Chipped games consoles just like the gun buy back scheme or are they just going to say so sad too bad, because gamers are not...
