My method is less likely to trigger legal action. Mind you, I do think Wayne summed up the thread quite succintly.

I definitely think the scenario highlights the distinction between common sense and the enacted laws. Common sense should dictate what was done was in the best interest of all parties, but unfortunately this doesn't mean the actions taken are free from punitive action.

I would have performed a reverse lookup query to see what the FQDN returned was. I would then telnet to port 25 to see what the SMTP hostname was and compare this with the FQDN. I would also perform a whois on the IP address, the FQDN and SMTP hostname. If the FQDN, hostname or whois return provided details on the company actually running the server and not an ISP, I'd then use various directory services to get a contact address. I'd also try browsing to the IP address to see if a Web page was returned with company name and contact details.

And continuing the pedantry, you're supposed to ask the authors permission to reproduce all or part of an e-mail under Australian copyright law :-)

BTW why Cameria?

>>But I have been struggling with ideas for topics

I have never known you to be anything less than forth-coming and over-flowing with your 'ideas'. Maybe I need to write some more items about the benefits of cloud computing to get those creative juices flowing eh?

Thanks

We ran the Risk workshop using the sticky note method and now I'm wondering why we are running requirments workshops differently.

Hmmmmm might look at maybe adding a section for both.

When you have the TV on you are not really multi-tasking as you don't NEED to pay attention to it. It some ways it is similar perhaps to people who have music on in the background. An interesting study found that if you want to improve you retention of information or a subject you should listen to Mozart I believe. Here are some articles on that score:

http://skepdic.com/mozart.html

jrscience.wcp.muohio.edu/.../HowMusicaffectsConcentrat.html

I would suggest that perhaps the TV plays the same role for yourself. However, I would challenge you to try other methods of improving your concentration by perhaps playing music to see whether that does in fact have a greater effect.

In the end I see your work and the TV actually not being true 'multi-tasking' as there is no real 'need' to concentrate on the TV. I will therefore still strongly content that the ability to multi-task is a myth and all that it is in effect is task switching, which in most cases makes you far more ineffective.

Thanks

Get everyone to write down one idea per sticky note. Then sift through the notes and put them into categories. Then the similar notes get ranked. The ranking then determines feature set and implementation priority, so long as you get consensus.

Prototype off the requirements, which generally gets more ideas, second round of sticky notes, collate and get approval.

The notes will also include future feature set requirements.

I noticed Microsoft did something similar for Windows 7.

The frame format needs updating to cover the use of avian-friendly USB keys.

And QoS can be updated to include Token Buckets and DiffServ.

That should do it! :-)
